Canvas Parent App For Windows

Signing up is difficult. I cannot enter the password. It is impossible to set up an account. Update: I was able to log in, but the star rating is now at over five stars. The app is difficult to use. There's no way to clearly see the assignments due today, and there's no consistent information on what it shows. They don't seem to care about the user at all. It is really poor thought out.

Too many notifications are sent to me, often more than 10 in one day. They take so long to review, that I just ignore them and delete them. This isn't helpful, useful, or efficient and is also a waste of my time. It is impossible to restrict notifications and not turn them off. A better way to limit notifications is to allow you to notify only missing work and/or if your grade falls below a specific percentage.

08/28/19 Yet another year of poor mobile apps. The calendar is not compatible with the website version. You haven't received your assignment. This App is still being used by schools. The app does not provide any useful information. It flips to the top instead of where it was after you have read a screen. You will have to go over the entire list once more. If this really messes with you, then it's Thursday. It goes back to Monday.

Terrible application. Even though they may appear complete, assignments don't always look that way. Even though you can view them online, grades are sometimes missing. The interface is very confusing. It doesn't let me go to the notification it has. This junk is being uninstalled and I am going online to verify everything.

This app is full of promise. It would be great if the app didn't take too long to load, then it could switch between children. Also, I would love the text function to indicate which student notification it is. There are 3 of us, so the text "Subject Canvas Alert: New Announcement: Check in Files" doesn't provide enough information.

It is far less helpful than the website. It would be great to have a way to view missing assignments and the due dates, at least in one location. To find an unsorted list of assignments, the app needs to be used in a sequence of clicks. It doesn't show the due date and isn't chronological. It's not very useful.

It seems that I have had the exact opposite issue as most reviews. When I tried to sign-up on the desktop website version, it kept telling me that my code was invalid. However, when I used the mobile app to sign up, the code worked just fine. Only issue was that I couldn't click/tap out or switch between apps to see the code (to view it in a text or picture, for instance). This makes the field non-editable.

Assignments can be locked even if due within a few days. This is something I do not like. This makes it difficult to keep track of all the details. It is impossible to print items ahead of schedule so I often turn on the extremely slow computer just to print a few papers. It would be great to have all my papers printed at once, so it'd make organizing much easier. It would save me about 20 minutes each day waiting for the files to load. !

This app is not user-friendly. It was frustratingly difficult to set up. Similar problems to others. Instead, I set things up via the website from my computer. Even though I tried to uninstall the app, download it again, and log in, that did not work. My computer will be sufficient to access my Canvas account.

The application may contain all the information you require to find out what is happening with your student. However, if not, it is hidden deep within layers upon layers of screens, making it difficult for students to locate. It would be much more helpful to have a top-end dashboard. If I had no access to the student status, I wouldn't have abandoned this app.

It doesn't download. The app starts installation. It reaches 100% and then it kicks back into installation. Each time. This is the second issue with this app. The message to download went up to 34% two days ago and stopped advising to try again. So two different problems. Both the Canvas desktop app and this app continue to have problems.

It is horrible and not reliable. The Q2 is complete and I see the grade on my app from the first week. To be notified when my child misses an assignment or is late, I changed the settings. Each class must be taken individually each day. At this pace, I could as easily be enrolled at class. My child's progress is difficult to track.

This app is great. It is a shame that it doesn't get 5 stars because of the 2 updates I believe could be made. If you send an email regarding a grade posted, please include the grade in your actual email. If this isn't possible, please include the grade in your email. Also post date and if you have received the same assignment keep track of them both. It can sometimes be difficult to recall what grade it was or the current one.

It is incredible to see the calendar! It was a great way to view what is being turned in, and what is still missing. Unfortunately, the "missing" word is actually green. It should be highlighted or red. It should also be highlighted if an assignment has been successfully submitted. This will allow me to not have to go to each assignment individually to check if they've been submitted. You'll earn 5 stars if you make the main view easier to use.

It finally works! It finally worked! After going online to create Canvas for my children, the web browser was able to connect to my laptop and I can log in to Canvas and view content for my children. You can view content categorised by your children in the app, which is not possible with the browser. It's great to see that things finally work as planned.
